An experience the mind, body, and soul crave I thoroughly enjoyed this kayaking excursion with Rolands. Don't be put off by the cost - it's absolutely worth it - and don't think it won't compare to the likes of better-known kayaking spots around the world - it offers just the right amount of challenge for beginners as well as those with moderate kayaking experience. You'll sometimes have to navigate rocks, fallen trees, and overhanging branches in shallow areas and there are thrilling rapids in others. It's both a great physical workout and an opportunity to experience and learn about the great Latvian outdoors. Do you know the feeling of feeling physically tired but emotionally rejuvenated? That's how I felt afterwards. Just as enjoyable was Rolands' company - he's not only a very capable guide and instructor but also a very gregarious, genuine, and humorous person, who will fill your experience with laughter and many "Wow!" moments. The local Latvian foods he brought were delicious and he also took photos and videos and shared these with me afterwards. Overall, it was a very memorable and worthwhile experience and I encourage anyone to make it a part of their itinerary!

Travel highlight! My friend and I had such a wonderful experience Kayaking the Gauja! Not only were the views breathtaking, but Rolands was very nice, knowledgable and caring. We are not pro paddlers by any means but this was just a perfect adventure : accessible but yet just challenging enough at times to be fun. Lunch was also great (and plentiful!), and I was nice to be able to taste some local food (I still have dreams about Kārums). I’ll definitely be back for some more nature outings with Rolands! 😊

A truly splendid experience We had a great day with our tour guide Rolands, whose great knowledge about the park, its different ecosystems and nature and species in general made this trip absolutely worthwhile. He showed us four different spots in the park - the bog, the wetlands, the lagoon and the sea - and explained the differences in a way that was easy to understand for people who are not conservation biologists like him. The cream on the cake was his knowledge about his country, its history and his openness to engage in virtually any topic. Highly recommended.

What an exceptional day! What an exceptional day! The tour to Ķemeri National Park and Jūrmala far exceeded my expectations. The absolute highlight was Rolands.
Who would have imagined that a hike through the Ķemeri bog would be led by a biologist? His knowledge of the wetlands, plants, wildlife, and ecosystem transformed what could have been just a beautiful walk into a fascinating learning experience.
Beyond his expertise, Rolands was fantastic company, friendly, engaging, and incredibly flexible.
It felt less like a standard tour and more like exploring with a passionate friend who genuinely loves sharing his knowledge.

Enjoyable tour of a unique environment! Rolands was the perfect person to guide us in this interesting and special place, very knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to spend time with. His passion for nature and conservation really shone through. Also it was nice to have a tour that didn't take the full day for a change, too. Rolands was great with ideas and suggestions for our visit to Latvia in general as well. We learned a lot and had a fun time doing it!

Tours in Kemeri and Gauja We booked two private tours from Riga in consecutive days: one to Kemeri and one to Gauja. Both are highly recommended, if you wish to go out of Riga and experience some of Latvia’s wonderful national parks but don’t have much time. The organisation was perfect and we felt in safe and capable hands at all moments. Our guide, Rolandts, is very knowledgeable about the various ecosystems we visited and a passionate environmentalist. He is a great conversionalist and fun to be with. We learnt a lot about Latvia’s history and culture from him.

Absolutely recommended tour We had booked a private tour in the Kemeri bog national park. Pickup from our accomodation in Riga went perfectly. Our guide Rolands was not only very knowledgable about every aspect of the ecosystem in the national park but could also answer all of our questions regarding Latvia's nature. Besides that he also was witty and had some nice jokes so time was passing by very fast. The walk in the wetlands itself was absolutely unique. No people, absolutely quiet and peaceful, and exploring the fascinating ecosystem was giving us lots of insight on why areas like that are vital to nature. We can only absolutely recommend taking that walk!
